November 2010  Since the successful listing of the Barn in the spring the council and its officers have been surveying and making the site safe.  The demolition of the farm cottages has taken place and a plan for emergency repairs to the barn gable end have been ongoing. The Friends of Reignhead Barn have met with the council officers and been kept informed of progress. Councillor Ian Saunders has called for a meeting in mid December to ensure that progress is made in making the site safe and weather proof.  Ideas for the long term sustainability of the building will also be discussed. Interview Breakfast Show on Radio Sheffield Clive Betts offers support for our campaign Petition against demolition launched 03/04/2010 Update from Mr Hempshall - Sheffield City Council I now have a structural report on the condition of the Barn (the listed part) at the Reignhead site.  Very briefly it states three main issues the roof is leaking through the broken skylights and these need repairing the original timber rafters show signs of "wet rot", but only beneath the broken skylights and hence a repair to these will prevent further deterioration the external face of the gable end of the "threshing room"  has two holes in it which will require rebuilding Whilst, this is not all bad news...... A Big thankyou to all who signed our petition.  Your efforts helped us secure the Grade II listing Total number of verified signatures. 575 Application for listing In mid February 2010 we lodged an application for listing of the Farm buildings  as  buildings of special Architectural and/or historic interest. It fell to English Heritage to consider this  application before recommending (or not) listing to the Secretary of State for Culture.On 30th April 2010 we received confirmation from EH that the Barn, Stables and Granary have been listed as Grade II .  This is just the beginning and the hard work now begins.   Our thanks to Clive Betts MP and CLLR Helen Mirfin-Boukouris  for giving their support to our efforts to preserve the barn. We would love to receive messages of support from other members of the community.Press release Sheffield Forum Why not follow the link below and see our thread on the Sheffield Forum.Reignhead Barn thread
